What is Ubuntu used for?

Ubuntu (pronounced oo-BOON-too) is an open source Debian-based Linux distribution.  Ubuntu is considered a good distribution for beginners.
The operating system was intended primarily for personal computers (PCs) but it can also be used on servers.

Is Ubuntu better than Windows?

Ubuntu is More Resource-Friendly. The last but not the least point is that Ubuntu can run on older hardware far better than Windows.
Even Windows 10 that is said to be more resource-friendly than its predecessors doesn't do as good of a job compared to any Linux distro.

What is the purpose of Ubuntu?

So the real purpose of using Ubuntu is to provide seamless usage of the desktop, like you used to use windows.,
but you have much better control on the OS and the computer than you had in windows.
This community has now made Ubuntu as one of the widely used operating systems in the world for desktops and for servers.

How did Ubuntu get its name?

Ubuntu is a South African term meaning "humanity to others". And that is why, it is offered free for personal use.

Ubuntu Studio     Based on Ubuntu, providing open-source applications for multimedia creation aimed at the audio, video and graphic editors.

Moreover, they were used on phones and TV as well, but now ther are discontinued.

                       use Hildon from maemo as its graphical frontend.Ubuntu Touch is a successor to Ubuntu Mobile.


Ubuntu TV            Designed for use with TVs.
